About Us

Triple P - Positive Parenting has arrived in Algoma!

In October 2010, the Triple P Steering Committee was formed to implement the Triple P Positive Parenting Program throughout the District of Algoma. There are more than a dozen child and youth serving organizations participating in the Steering Committee. The organizations include children’s mental health, public health, developmental services, boards of education, aboriginal organizations, child welfare and youth services. Funding to support the training of over 100 staff from partner organizations has been received from Ministry of Health Promotion through the Healthy Communities Fund. In addition, organizations have contributed close to $200,000 to support the costs of training, materials and accreditation. This is a substantial financial investment from community agencies and reflects the level of commitment that all partners have for this ground breaking initiative.

Moving Ahead with Triple P!

Over 100 professionals in the District of Algoma have been trained and accredited as of June 30, 2011 to deliver Triple P Positive Parenting programs and services for families with children and youth up to 17 years of age.

Services offered will include Seminars and Groups for parents of children 0-12 years and teens and Family Transitions for parents experiencing separation and divorce. A number of providers have also been trained in strategies to assist parents whose children have physical or developmental issues.

The Parent-Child Information Line at Algoma Public Health has the scheduling and registration information for seminars in your area - 705-541-7101 / 1-888-537-5741.
