About Triple P

The three Ps in ‘Triple P’ stand for ‘Positive Parenting Program’ which means your family life is going to be much more enjoyable.  Positive parenting is simply an approach to parenting that gives parents tools and strategies to raise their child in an environment that is safe, loving and predictable. Triple P’s positive parenting allows parents to decide what is important to them. It does not tell parents how to raise their children, but gives them the confidence and skills to build good relationships with their child or teenager, set boundaries and rules, and follow up with consequences that are not harmful. Read more about what Triple P is.

Brief Primary Care Triple P

Are you trying to deal with one specific behaviour?  Meet with a practitioner one on one

for some basic strategies and if you need more guidance, you can always schedule

another visit.

Primary Care Triple P

Are you looking for some new ideas and strategies to manage specific behaviours?

How It Works?

You (and your partner if you want) will meet with a practitioner for and one on one support and to discuss some strategies for the behaviours you would like to see changed in your child.   You could meet up to four times depending on what you need. You will be given a tip sheet to take home to help remind you of the strategies you want to try.

Group Triple P

Group Triple P is a great opportunity to meet other parents in similar situations.   Using your workbook to guide you, you'll be given tips and suggestions to fit the needs of your family.   The video Every Parent's Survival Guide will let you see how the strategies work.

How It Works?

There are about 12 parents in a group session and each session is about two hours.  During the sessions you will learn about:

  • Building positive relationships with your children

  • Dealing positively and consistently with problem behaviour

  • Encouraging behaviour from your children that you like

  • Planning ahead to avoid or manage difficult situations

  • Taking care of yourself as a parent

There are no more than 6 sessions that you will attend plus two to three phone calls – at a pre-determined time- that you can discuss what is working and what isn’t.  For the last session, you will meet up with the group to talk about what is going well and what has been a challenge.
